UBUNTU
Ubuntu is the African way of existing. The sphere represents bringing the Ubuntu philosophy to the world. How do we uphold the spirit of Ubuntu? By sitting at the feet of those that make up our communities intergenerationally with interdisciplines & ultimately interdependence. To find deep knowledge it is important for our collective voices, experiences and insights to come together through intellectual and human engagement as a communal investment. In so doing, the chains of complacency, hierarchy, and/or any top-down methodology is broken by the commerce of the community effecting change by intellectual possibility of the group phenomenon versus a “Banker” Model. Real educational liberation comes from the ability to think freely in community and to elevate one another through the culture of “We”.
Bishop Tutu's quotes
“Differences are not intended to separate, to alienate. We are different precisely in order to realize our need for one another.”
“If you are neutral in situations of injustice, you have chosen the side of the oppressor.”
“Do your little bit of good where you are; it’s those little bits of good put together that overwhelm the world.”
“Forgiving is not forgetting; its actually remembering–remembering and not using your right to hit back. Its a second chance for a new beginning. And the remembering part is particularly important. Especially if you dont want to repeat what happened”
“The price of freedom is eternal vigilance.”
“Without forgiveness, there is no future”
